🌱 Méthodes

User Guide — Méthodes

Everything you need to know to get the most out of Méthodes, your well-being and productivity companion.

1. Introduction

What is Méthodes?

Méthodes is a well-being and productivity app designed for small groups of friends. It brings together an emotional journal, habit and routine tracking, breathing and meditation exercises, a Pomodoro timer, tasks and goals, and caring group sharing spaces — all in one place.

Philosophy: less but better

Méthodes doesn't try to turn you into a productivity machine. The idea is simple: keep everything in one place, see your real rhythm, and move at your own pace. No pushy notifications, no leaderboards, no guilt trips.

Create an account

Head to the sign-up page and choose a username and password. That's it. No mandatory email, no phone number.

2. Dashboard

The dashboard is the first page you see after logging in. It gives you a quick and caring overview of your day.

Progress circle

Three concentric arcs represent your daily progress: habits (green), routines (plum), and journal (orange). At the centre, a leaf accompanies your day. It's not a score — it's an organic reflection of your rhythm.

Greeting and streak

The welcome message changes with the time of day and includes your first name. Your consecutive-day streak appears with a 🌿 — no pressure if you miss a day.

Current streak

Your consecutive journal days streak appears at the top of the dashboard. No pressure: if you miss a day, you simply pick up where you left off.

7-day trends

Three mini-charts show how your mood, energy, and stress have evolved over the past 7 days. A quick glance is all you need to spot the trend.

Coach and insights

Contextual messages appear based on your recent data: mood improvement, stress decrease, habits nearly all checked off. Méthodes also analyses your 7-day trends to offer personalised observations. These are always encouragements, never reproaches.

Next small action

Méthodes suggests a next small action based on the time and what you've already done: journal in the morning, pomodoro during the day, meditation in the evening. It's an invitation, not an obligation.

Today's actions — unified view

If you use both habits and routines, an "Today's actions" section appears at the top of the dashboard. It gathers everything scheduled today (due habits + steps from your morning and evening routines) into a single list, organized by moment. A click on the checkbox ticks the action, whether it comes from a habit or a ritual.

If a habit has the same name as a step in your routine, only the routine step appears in the unified list — to avoid the same action being ticked twice.

Activity feed

Your recent actions (journal, habits, pomodoro, breathing, meditation) appear in a chronological feed. It's a visual reminder of what you've already accomplished.

3. Journal

The journal is the core tool of Méthodes. It lets you capture your emotional state in just a few seconds, through a guided flow.

Mood, energy, stress

Each entry starts with three sliders on a 1-to-10 scale:

  • Mood — How you feel overall
  • Energy — Your vitality level
  • Stress — Your tension level

The goal isn't to always be at 10. It's to observe your trends over time.

Guided flow

Creating an entry follows a step-by-step flow: feelings (sliders), sentiments and activities, daily context (linked habits and tasks), then an optional free-form note.

Feelings and activities

After the sliders, you can choose feelings (e.g. serene, tired, motivated) and activities (e.g. sport, work, social). You can also create your own custom feelings.

Dreams

You can log your dreams: type (good, neutral, nightmare), description, intensity, and tags. It's optional — some people enjoy keeping track of their dream life.

Linked activities

The journal automatically detects the habits you've completed and any breathing, meditation, or pomodoro sessions from the day. For premium users, completed tasks are also linked.

An entry that grows with the day

Since April 2026, your journal keeps one entry per day that grows as you come back. You note your mood in the morning, return at noon, add a word in the evening — everything accumulates in the same page, with the time of each moment. The main values (mood, energy, stress) reflect the latest pass; the timeline keeps track of everything.

Example: 8am mood 6 "morning coffee", 2pm mood 8 "nice lunch", 10pm mood 5 "tired but content" → one journal card for the day, three moments visible in the details.

Tip: Older multi-entries on the same day remain readable as recorded. The new behavior applies to entries created after the update.

History and calendar

All your entries are accessible via a calendar or list view. You can re-read them to spot recurring patterns. Detailed cards show your feelings, activities, and linked habits.

Edit or delete

Every entry can be edited or deleted. There's no time constraint: you stay in control of your data.

4. My Daily

My Daily brings together your habits and routines on a single page. Everything that structures your day, all in one place.

Habits

A habit is something small and doable: 5 minutes of stretching, reading 10 pages, no screen after 10 pm. Each day, you see your list and a simple tap is enough to check it off.

Habit types

Three types of habits are available:

  • Check — Simple checkbox
  • Duration — Built-in stopwatch to measure time spent
  • Breathing — Linked to a breathing technique, auto-completes after the exercise

Creation wizard

Creating a habit goes through a 4-step wizard: name, goal type, frequency, and scheduling. You choose which days the habit is active.

If your habit's name matches an existing step in one of your routines, methodes shows a gentle note after creation: "Your routine X already has a step Y — you can link them to avoid double-counting." You're never blocked, it's just a reminder.

Streaks without punishment

Méthodes counts your consecutive-day streaks with a 🌿, but never punishes you when you miss a day. There's no game over. You simply pick up where you left off.

Tip: Start with 2 or 3 habits at most. You can always add more once those are well established.

Routines

Routines are lists of steps for the morning when you wake up and/or the evening before bed. They give structure to the key moments of your day.

Step types

Each routine is made up of steps of two types:

  • Text — Simple step to check off manually
  • Action — Linked to a module (breathing, pomodoro). A Launch button takes you directly to the module, and the step auto-completes when you're done.

Daily progress

Each day, the steps reset to unchecked. You check them off one by one as you go. A progress indicator (e.g. 3/5 steps) shows you where you are.

Among the available templates, "Morning focus routine" directly includes a breathing step and a 25-minute Pomodoro session. Select the template, edit step names if needed, and start your morning in one gesture.

5. Focus (Pomodoro)

Configurable timer

The Pomodoro timer lets you work in focused time blocks. By default: 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of break, but you can adjust these durations and the number of cycles.

Stopwatch mode

If you prefer not to set a duration, the stopwatch mode lets you work freely. You stop whenever you want.

Micro-pause

Between each work block and its break, a 30-second micro-pause invites you to breathe or stretch. You can also choose a short meditation. It's a transition moment, just for you.

Link with tasks

You can link a Pomodoro session to a current task. At the end of the session, Méthodes offers to mark the task as complete. You can also start a Pomodoro directly from a task with the focus button.

Obstacles and results

At the end of each session, Méthodes asks you:

  • What you accomplished (result)
  • What got in the way (obstacle)

Statistics

You can view your completed cycles, total focus minutes, most frequent obstacles, and your session garden. This data helps you better understand your concentration patterns.

6. Breathing

Breathing exercises help you find your calm in just a few minutes. Four techniques are available, each suited to a different need.

The 4 techniques

  • Cardiac coherence — 5s inhale, 5s exhale. Balances the nervous system.
  • 4-7-8 — Inhale 4s, hold 7s, exhale 8s. Promotes falling asleep.
  • Box — 4 equal phases (inhale, hold, exhale, hold). Calms anxiety.
  • Relaxing — Longer exhale than inhale. Deep relaxation.

Guided animation

An animated circle guides you visually throughout the exercise: breathe in as it expands, breathe out as it shrinks. Just follow the rhythm.

Links with habits and routines

You can link a breathing exercise to a habit (breathing type) or add it as an action step in a routine. The exercise auto-completes.

7. Meditation

Meditation is a few minutes just for you. No experience needed — just a quiet moment.

Passive techniques

Mindfulness and body scan guide you to observe your thoughts and sensations without judgement. A timer with ambient sound accompanies you.

Active techniques

Walking meditation and movement meditation invite you to bring your attention to your body sensations while moving gently.

Access from other modules

Meditation is accessible from the Pomodoro micro-pause, as an action step in a routine, or directly from the menu.

8. Tasks & Goals

Your tasks and goals are gathered on a single page. Use the tabs to navigate between them.

Premium: Tasks and goals are a premium feature. The free version allows 3 tasks, 1 project, and 1 goal.

Tasks

Tasks support priorities (none, low, medium, high), subtasks, due dates, and tags. You can organise them by project or leave them in the inbox.

Projects

Projects group tasks by theme. Each project has a name, a colour, and an icon. You can archive a project when it's finished.

Goals

Goals are longer-term objectives with milestones. A progress bar tracks your advancement. You can link habits to a goal to follow your consistency.

Tab navigation

Three tabs let you filter the view: All, Tasks, and Goals. This way you can focus on what matters at any given time.

Focus from a task

From the Tasks page, a focus button (⏱️) lets you start a Pomodoro linked to that task. At the end, Méthodes offers to mark it as complete.

9. Groups

Create a group

A group is a shared space with a few close ones. You choose a name and an invitation code that you share with the people of your choice.

Join by code

To join a group, just enter the invitation code. No friend request, no approval needed: the code is all it takes.

Post and react

In a group, you can post two types of messages:

  • Victory — something you're proud of today
  • Goal — what you're aiming for in the coming days

Other members can react with emojis. It's a light and caring way to share.

Privacy

Groups don't have access to your journal, habits, or routines. Only what you voluntarily share is visible. Your personal data stays private.

10. Offline Mode

Progressive Web App (PWA)

Méthodes is a Progressive Web App. You can install it on your phone or tablet just like a native app, directly from the browser.

Queue

When you're offline, all your actions (journal, habits, pomodoro, etc.) are saved locally in a queue.

As soon as the connection comes back, Méthodes automatically sends all pending actions to the server. You don't need to do anything: the sync is seamless.
